Practice Information

I treat adults and couples at UW Valley Medical Center's Psychiatry and Counseling Clinic in Renton, WA. Many of my clients suffer from developmental trauma and its symptoms, such as depression, anxiety, obsession, compulsion, behavioral addiction, and relationship problems, including shame, fear, and guilt. My relationship with my clients is a primary agent of change. I also use dreams, embodied exercises, imaginal exercises, and other strategies to help my clients address and resolve what has brought them to psychotherapy. I'm theoretically oriented to analytic and spiritual psychologies. Lifespan Integration, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy are current evolutions of my practice. I have a special interest in treating individuals who, because of early emotional injury, are now "stuck" in painful patterns of living, which can be most acute in midlife. I also enjoy treating young adults struggling to separate from their parents. Such struggle also occurs in adults faced with caring for their aging parents.

Couple work in my practice is centered on attachment bonds that threaten as well as secure relationships. Couples will discover that beneath painful emotional cycles are many feelings that started in the past, but now can be safely and lovingly experienced with an attuned partner in the present. All sexualities are welcome.
