Seminar objective:

  1. Become familiar with how Freud applied psychoanalytic concepts, including the pleasure principle, ‘oceanic feeling,’ superego, aggression  to socio political philosophy
  2. Recognize how the life and times of Freud, including World Wars, antisemitism, and death of family member influenced his perspectives on life and society,
  3. Reflect  how any psychoanalyst’s past and present personal background, and sociocultural milieu could influence their understanding and use of theory.
