Since June of 2020, SPSI has held regular Town Halls focused on racism. We have used this space to reflect together about how racism has affected us inside and outside of SPSI. We have wondered together about what we disavow, dissociate and avoid that disrupts our efforts to be a truly inclusive, equitable multiracial community.

The COVID pandemic has infused the clinical encounter with the risk of transmission. Negotiating this risk with my patients has revealed how we use group identities to manage our sense of vulnerability.  Each group’s risk strategies are interwoven with other values that are core constructs of identity.  How do we navigate these interrelated, overdetermined constructs
