The Seattle Psychoanalytic Society and Institute (SPSI) trains mental health clinicians to provide psychoanalytic treatment, and trains researchers in the application of psychoanalytic theory to various social settings. SPSI serves individuals and organizations in the community through educational outreach, consultation, research, and reduced fee psychoanalytic treatment.
   SPSI, a not-for-profit corporation, is governed by a Board of Directors.

PEP Literature Search Demo
PEP has a new program called PEPLiteratureSearch, a free search engine expressly designed and integrated for enhancing academic and public outreach. It allows you to search through titles and abstracts of all the psychoanalytic literature in the PEP database. It is currently in a demo form but can be found at: pep-web.org.

Ira Brenner, M.D.

“There is More to Trauma than PTSD”

Dr. Brenner is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and a Training and Supervising Analyst at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia, where he is Co-Director of the Adult Psychotherapy Training Program. He has a special interest in the area of psychological trauma and is the author of over 75 publications, including four books:

• The Last Witness - The Child Survivor of the Holocaust, co-authored with Judith Kestenberg(1996)

• Dissociation of Trauma: Theory, Phenomenology and Technique (2001)

• Psychic Trauma: Dynamics, Symptoms, and Treatment (2004)

• Injured Men: Trauma, Healing, and the Masculine Self (2009).

He has received a number of awards for his work, including the Gratz Research Prize from Jefferson and the Piaget Writing Award for his 2001 book. He has lectured nationally and internationally, and is in private practice in Bala Cynwyd, PA.
